Design

Interfaces and information design

Where I did design

Approach

I came to design from documentation. That is why I start every project with questions: who will use this and what do they need to do. I choose fonts and colors afterwards.

I wrote interface text, drew diagrams and schematics, and built a style guide. I work in Figma, Sketch and Draw.io.

Projects

Components for diagrams and schematics

Baikal Electronics · 2022–2024 · Draw.io, Sketch

Task
Format diagrams and schematics in the processor documentation: describe complex things in one simple visual language.
Challenges
There were no common rules or set of elements: diagrams were drawn by intuition.
Solution
Created a set of 50+ components for formatting diagrams and schematics. A picture can be assembled from them quickly.
Result
Diagrams are assembled from ready-made components and look consistent.

Documentation style guide

T1 Holding, Innotech · 2024–2026 · Figma, Draw.io

Task
Bring the terminology, structure and formatting of the Mapius platform documentation to one format.
Solution
Created the Mapius documentation style guide: rules for terminology, structure and formatting.
Result
The platform documentation follows one set of rules.

How to combine a bank, a messenger and a business

Alfa-Bank and VK Messenger · the “Banking in messengers” case championship · 2024

Presentation slide: “Marusya for business” in VK Messenger
A slide from the team presentation.
Task
Come up with a strategy for new partner products of Alfa-Bank and VK Messenger: how to connect a bank, a messenger and small and medium businesses.
My role
Analyst and designer in a team of three. Developed a strategy to improve P2P transfers.
Solution
  • Analysis of small and medium businesses: needs, segments, growth of the chatbot market.
  • “Marusya for business”: an NLP-based support service. It answers customers in the chat and hands the conversation to an employee when it cannot cope.
  • Customer support in the chat: appointments, pre-orders, loyalty cards.
  • VK Pay and Alfa-Bank: payments and P2P transfers right in the conversation.
  • Evaluation metrics and ways to attract businesses.

Gamification and an ecosystem for Tinkoff Education

T-Bank · the Tinkoff Case Day case championship · 2022

Presentation slide: the Tinkoff Education app
A slide from the team presentation.
Task
Propose a further development strategy for Tinkoff Education.
My role
Took part in developing the strategy in a team of five (HSE, MEPhI, Financial University).
Solution
  • Education as a separate product: a new app in the Tinkoff line.
  • Gamification: coins for actions in the app that can be exchanged for articles and courses, and a leaderboard.
  • Ecosystem: jobs and internships, links with other bank products, exchanging coins for bonuses outside Education.
  • Promotion: the yellow app, Tinkoff Journal, social networks, targeted ads, a community and a support chat.
  • Metrics (CTR, CPA), audience segmentation and risks. Approximate cost of the project: 20–25 million rubles including advertising.
Result
Finalist of the case championship.

A mobile financial mentor for VTB Investments

VTB · the MORE.Tech 3.0 hackathon · 2021 · team “TORCHers”

Presentation slide: screens of the “Mobile financial mentor” app
A slide from the team presentation.
Task
Propose a development strategy for VTB Investments. The bank’s main criterion: conversion into app installs.
My role
Built and tested hypotheses, ran UX research, took part in building an Android MVP of the mobile app.
Solution
  • A stock market simulator app: the user gets to know popular financial instruments step by step, while the economic situation changes like on a real exchange.
  • The first lesson is open to everyone, not only bank clients. After part of the course the user gets an offer to register, with shares worth up to 1,000 ₽ as a gift.
  • Personal recommendations of other bank products based on how the person goes through the course.
  • “Navigator”: a section with news about stocks, the economy and politics, curated by VTB employees.

Bukashka: an app for volunteers of a nature reserve

KROK · the WildHack hackathon · 2021

Presentation slide: the “Bukashka” app
A slide from the team presentation.
Task
Build a tool for working with the reserve’s volunteers at every stage: from getting to know the program to working on site.
My role
Ran UX research and took part in building an Android MVP of the app.
Solution
  • A personalized “For You” feed: news and sign-up for the program right in the app.
  • A profile whose data fills in the application form, so there is no need to fill it in again.
  • Search over a local knowledge base, available in any section.
  • Notes and reports for volunteers at the research site.
  • An SOS section with contacts for an emergency: there are wild animals in Kamchatka.
  • Onboarding without tutorial cards: the interface is learned while using it (Discoverable User Interface).

Barabaka: a debt-tracking app

Personal project

Task
Build an app for managing debts and design its interface myself, not only describe a finished one.
Details
The project write-up is coming later.

About me

I hold a master's degree from HSE University (Systems and Software Engineering) and work as a technical writer. I worked at T1 Innotech and Baikal Electronics.

What I like most in documentation is one task: how to arrange complex information so that a person quickly finds what they need and does everything step by step. That is why I also work on what stands next to the text: I wrote UX texts, drew diagrams, built a set of 50+ components for diagrams and created a documentation style guide.

I took part in hackathons and case championships run by Alfa-Bank, VK, T-Bank, VkusVill, VTB and KROK (2021–2024). I solved tasks at the intersection of technology, analytics and UX. Finalist of the Tinkoff Case Day 2022 case championship.

While building Barabaka, a debt-tracking app, I wanted to design the interface itself, not only describe it.

I want to learn: visual design, typography, composition and interface layout.
